Everything is 100% Handcrafted in Missouri! Nothing ordered out of the country and placed in my shop to look like it was handmade…all of it is handcrafted by my little hands & in my little wood studio, in my little backyard.

~ Did you know? Missouri is the largest producer of Walnut Hardwood in the WORLD! Our humid climate here has the perfect conditions for walnut trees to grow in groves and our hardwood is absolutely beautiful...full of character, swirls, burls & knots...all the pretty stuff! I always have several sizes available in walnut.

~ Did you know it takes a walnut tree 150 years to grow large enough for a 12" wide board? It grows nice and slow, so I am very careful to not waste this special resource. Fallen trees, storm damage and farmer/barn finds provide the bulk of the hardwood here. We do not take down old growth trees to make signs, rather we use fallen trees from storms.

Feel free to look around at my work and see why my work stands out as different. I specialize in carved hardwood signs. I mill all my own hardwood and handcraft my pieces from solid rustic hardwoods like the beauties in my shop. Much time and heart goes into every piece. Each one is made by me, a mid-western gal who is passionate about woodworking. This always surprises my customers...that "a woman really made this?" You will see that I am so particular about my work and continue to hone my skills of a trade that will be lost if we don't stop and take the time to value handmade quality again.
I start with raw, farm fresh hardwood and transform what seems like just an old boring piece of wood to something so beautiful you won't be able to stop feeling how soft and smooth it is. You will be amazed at the quality. These are made to last decades and pass down as heirlooms. I love to look for super beautiful character in the hardwood and share this with my customers in their pieces.

Custom layout request will need to message me first to see if I can fulfill your request. I usually will have to source artwork once you have placed an order if you request something unique. I will show you the artwork before I put it on your sign to make sure it is the look you are going for.

REAL SOLID HARDWOOD SIGNS: These Are Made from TRUE Hardwood, With All the Character of REAL Hardwood*. Your Sign WILL HAVE Grains, Knots, Curls, Burls, Waves, Gnarly Spots Etc., After All, It Is "REAL" Hardwood, Not Cheap Pine or Plywood Stained to "Look" Like Hardwood. Remember, Your Sign Will Be Custom Carved and Different as No Two Trees are the Same.
Any questionable spots that need stabilized will be done with a dark epoxy to ensure you do not have an issue years later.
Walnut has color variations from rich browns with red undertones to dark blackish streaks, and sometimes I get an old tree that has purplish and burgundy hues thru out. Most of my work is done on walnut as it is abundant here in Missouri and we have the perfect growing conditions for walnut trees to have beautiful character in the hardwood. These trees are so special and grow very slow, but this is what makes them so beautiful...I can go on and on about hardwood:) If you have any question just drop me a message:)

*True Old Growth Hardwood Has Been Timbered and Logged for the Past Century Until Now We Have Nearly Exhausted the Old Growth Walnut That Our Parents and Grandparents Easily Had Available to Make Furniture With.
My great grandfather and grandfather had a lumber business way back in the time of stream engines...back when man just logged until they ran out of trees. We DO NOT do this anymore...most of my hardwood is found on farms that have had fallen trees and occasionally an old barn will have a treasure way up in the rafters that no one cared about, and I will make the dangerous trek in the cobwebs, spiders, snakes and who knows what else not to mention 100+ years of dirt, to rescue it for my signs. Trust me... a lot goes into sourcing this special old growth hardwood for your order.

NO RUSH ORDERS: These signs are heirlooms, they take much time to make and cannot be made quickly. This makes my signs different from the cheaper quality signs you will find on ETSY. Please understand the process takes time, but it is worth the wait...these are absolutely beautiful! These Hardwood Signs Take Hours and Hours to Mill, Carve and Finish. Yes...You Get What You Pay for and Your Sign Will Be Truly Beautiful for Decades. These are not cheap throw away seasonal signs, but real solid hardwood, no fake, stained cheap wood. Small desk plaques can be made in a day or two if you need a gift super-fast.

These are finished for Interior Décor, or to go Under Cover Outside. Since these are Premium Hardwood, I cannot guarantee a sign that has been placed outside unless proper outdoor UV oil finish is applied seasonally. These signs are made the way Fine Furniture "used" to be made, with real solid Hardwood. You will need to reapply an Annual Outdoor Oil Sealer or Spar Urethane Outdoor Protector if you want your sign outside, in harsh elements. Not sure what to use? Send me a Message and I am happy to guide you to a "Quality Product" for maintenance.
Please, watch out that it is not in the direct sunlight, as it will warp & fade if it is not maintained seasonally with outdoor finish. Think of it like fine teak outdoor wood furniture that requires attention each season.

Custom Requests & Questions

I am happy to answer questions here thru Etsy messages. I do not give out my personal phone number for privacy reasons. Please send all messages thru Etsy so I can keep track of our conversations. I try to answer questions Monday-Thursday 6am-3pm Central Standard Time, between working on on orders.

How long does it take to ship an outdoor sign?

Outdoor Signs ordered with an Outdoor Finish ~ allow 3-4 weeks. This is a special finish that must cure in between coats. It drys better in low humidity, so dry times vary due to climate variations here in Missouri. The slower it dries, the better the finish. Please allow 3-4 weeks for these special items for the best finish possible. Outdoor Finish has an Upgraded Fee as it requires more labor and time than making the sign itself. This is the correct way to do a lasting finish and it is really worth the wait to protect your investment.

Care Instructions

Outdoor Signs will not last forever outside due to the Great Outdoors, they will always need some attention each season. Keep this in mind when placing your sign outside, it will last longer under cover or in the shade. Outdoor Finish has UV protector in it, but you will need to reapply some outdoor UV protector seasonally to keep it from fading and warping. Even outdoor woods need care just like we need sunblock when we are outside, I recommend using "General Finishes Outdoor Oil" or "Waterlox Marine Finish" to help maintain your sign seasonally.
